The
Advantage Motorcycle School opened in 2001
with the goal of helping our students to achieve
the skills and strategies to become a more proficient
motorcyclist. We look forward to helping you to
safer and more enjoyable riding. Your RiderCoach(es)
are here to help guide you through your learning
journey. Be sure to ask lots of questions and let
them know how to help you.
The Kentucky Motorcycle Program (KMP)
promotes safety by:
- Working to establish rider training
courses throughout the state.
- Increasing awareness of a motorcyclists
knowledge of the effects of alcohol and drugs.
- Developing driver improvement efforts.
- Conducting program promotion activities.
- Enhancing the publics awareness
of motorcycles.
- Promoting motorcycle safety through

KMP is provided through the Transportation
Cabinets Division of Driver Licensing, and operated
and maintained by the Traffic Safety Institute at Eastern
Kentucky University. It is funded by motorcyclist user
fees from motorcycle licenses, permits, and registrations.
- KMP provides insurance for all participants.
- Completion of the BRC entitles the
participant to a waiver of the motorcycle licensing
skills test.
- Class sizes are limited so early registration
is encouraged.
- RiderCoaches are certified by Motorcycle
Safety Foundation and approved by the KMP.
- You must be able to balance a bicycle
before attempting on-cycle exercises.
- You do not need a motorcycle permit
to take the Basic RiderCourse.
- The ERC is a great refresher course
for those returning to motorcycling.
