How can I go about getting my chopper design patented?

I have a specific design for a chopper motorcycle. Any ideas on how to get it built and patented.

A patent is a license covering a new engineering process, a new undiscovered material, or something nobody has done basically. With the endless amount of things done in the history of machinery, the odds of your discovering a new process is highly unlikely. Welding things together in any shape hardly qualifies. My sons grandfather has 27 US patents, mostly from a lifetime as an engineer, some are product design innovations, others are procedures, some simply a chemical compound.
i highly doubt that your thingies meets any of these criteria. BUT if your positive its a new thing never before envisioned, you will need to spend huge money hiring a patent attorney to search basically every patent made to see if your design breakthrough has already been even partly protected. This will take months of time at probably $80 per hour or more. That's the easy part. Then you need a working prototype, not a drawing, and wait in line to submit your device. Finally they will vote on your device, and unless its groundbreaking in design or materials your hosed.
Best plan? Grab your Friends, buy some brew, and spend a few days brainstorming until you find the absolute best name for your thingies.
Now the name you can trademark cheaply and simply, and its easy to enforce. If you cannot build it, take your trademarked name, drawings and such to the industry and try to sell it. GOOD LUCK.
